Congratulations to Hadley Sellin on qualifying for the State History Day Competition. Her project finished 2nd. The state competition is held at Nebraska Wesleyan University. At the state competition she has the opportunity to qualify for the National Competition in Washington D.C. Hadley's project was titled: "the Rights and Responsibilities of Native Americans." She did her project as a Senior Individual Exhibit.
14 Sophomores and Mr. Ramold attended the District History Day Competition in Norfolk at Northeast Community College on Monday March 10th, 2025. This is the first year that Winside had participated in this event, and Mr. Ramold is very pleased with how they competed in the District Competition considering this was the first time the students have done History Day and the first time that Mr. Ramold has taken students to compete at History Day. We came out of the day with one student that qualified for the state competition on April 12th, 2025. The rest of the students got the valuable experience presented at this kind of event.
Some might be wondering what is History Day? History Day is a three tier competition that comes out with a new theme that students have to relate their projects to each year. Projects typically start out as a classroom project during the first semester. Then during the second semester teachers select certain projects to attend the District Competitions against other schools across the state. The winners from the district competitions, usually either the Top 2 or Top 3, move on to the state competition where they compete against students from the rest of the state. The best projects from the state competitions then qualify for the National Competition which is held in Washington D.C. This year's theme was Rights and Responsibilities in History.
A huge shoutout to Raylyn Behmer, Aleah Bilstein, Katelyn Jaeger, Paxton Janke, Carter Krause, Brayden Lurz, Adrianna Miller, Tyler Paulsen, Hadleigh Schutt, Hadley Sellin, Stratton Sellin, Ellie Topp, and Benjamin Uttecht for the time and effort they put into these projects to prepare them for the District contest.
Once again congratulations to Hadley Sellin on qualifying for the State Competition.
