Ms. Gnat's weights classes took time away from the "iron" for a bike ride. Ms. Gnat also had the Health Department from Northeast Community College come to give her 7th grade students a presentation: "Fatal Vision Drunk Driving Presentation". Student experienced a variety of situations on foot and in a go-cart simulation.

8th Grade Social Studies has been learning about the early years of the United States and the development of foreign policy. Each student wrote their own foreign policy addressing alliances, military, trade, and democracy, and then the class voted on the best policy for each category. (L-R: Alayna Carlson, Tate Petersen, and Paxton Grothe)
Alliances Winner - Paxton Grothe
I think that we should make alliances with the big countries that have great powers so that way we can get help from a great power like Russia when we are in trouble, and we could go to war for our allies if they were getting beaten badly in the war and needed lots of help and we would help them win that war unless it is against one of our great allies. Then we would hold off so that we don't lose one of our best allies, and we would help our greater ally if two of our allies were in a war.
Military Winner - Paxton Grothe
We will have Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marines, and we will add a greater nuclear power, so if a country tries to attack us with nuclear power, we could defend ourselves more and not get taken out in nuclear warfare, and we should also get a better defense system in case that a war breaks out. And other countries send bombs towards our country, we will have a greater defense system, and we will have a greater military and get more troops to become one of the greatest powers in the world.
Trade Winner - Tate Peterson
The United States is allowed to trade whenever and whatever they want to. While trading with enemies, if we so please, we must not give them everything they want, and we must require them to give us more than what our product is worth. The United States can refuse to trade whenever they want as well. The United States MUST NOT trade products to countries that we are currently fighting.
Democracy Winner - Alayna Carlson
No, we will not try to spread democratic forms of government because that could lead to more harm than good. Other countries might think that we are trying to start a war or be in disagreement with them. No, I don’t want other countries having monarchies, but I don’t want to get involved with anyone else’s government if it’s not affecting us.

April Teacher of the Month
Ms.Gnat has great classroom management with her students. She is fair but firm and the students love and respect her. She is a great asset to the Winside team and her work in the athletics department does not go unnoticed! I'm choosing Devin Gnat because of the extra commitments she puts into the school as the assistant athletic director. She does a fantastic job of making sure staff members are all set up for their shifts when taking money at the athletic events. She has a positive impact on the students and it's very clear when walking the hallways.

Mrs. Boehmer’s insightfulness is truly remarkable. She always listens, offers thoughtful guidance, and helps me work through ideas or questions with clarity and perspective. She brings that same care and understanding to her work with the kiddos, connecting with each student and helping them grow in meaningful ways.
