Winside Elementary Celebrates Hour of Code 2025

Winside Elementary students took part in the 2025 Hour of Code initiative, bringing curiosity and collaboration into our classrooms.

This year our students explored coding with Code Monkey, an engaging online program. In the activity, students wrote code to guide an outer-space monkey through obstacles to capture a banana. Along the way they practiced key computer‑science concepts such as loops and conditionals to make the monkey move, avoid hazards, and reach the prize.

Highlights

  • Students used logical thinking and perseverance to debug and improve their programs.

  • Many solved problems independently and then supported classmates by sharing fixes and alternate strategies.

  • The classroom buzzed with excitement as teams tested code, observed results, and iterated until the monkey succeeded.
