15 Winside FFA members had the opportunity to compete in district livestock evaluation today! Students were split into two divisions. Freshman and sophomores competed in the junior division while juniors and seniors competed in the senior division.
Students judged Market Steers, Market Hogs, Breeding Does, Breeding Heifers, Breeding Ewes and Breeding Gilts, rating the 4 animals in each class from most desirable to least desirable. 2 classes were cull/keep classes where students determine what 4 animals out of a pen of 6 they would keep and what 2 they would cull.
Junior division gave one set of oral reasons to members of the college livestock judging team and senior division members had 3 sets of reasons to give.
Results will come later on, overall, it was another great opportunity for our students to participate in today as we gear up for more Career Development Events in the next month!
