Please tell us about yourself and your family:
My husband is David Quinn. We have been married 28 years. He was born on a farm near Winside but grew up at Brush and Loveland, Colorado. We enjoy going for drives and inviting friends and family to our house.
Morgan and Tarrin are my daughters. They, like me, graduated from Winside High School, Tarrin is working on her Masters Degree in Agriculture and works as an office manager at Wayne County Extension. Morgan works at the Pender Hospital and is going to nursing school at Northeast. She has a son Casen that is two. Casen keeps us all entertained. He likes to sing the “Hotdog” song, he loves to play outside and dig in the dirt, and he loves the animals we have on our acreage...cows, cats, dogs, ducks, and chickens.
What is your philosophy of education?
I believe life is a journey and at some point in your life you will need every piece of information that has been presented to you to enrich and enhance your life. I believe that if a student doesn’t learn something the first time it’s my job to reteach...look for new angles to teach it...color code it….find a video….whatever it takes for them to learn it. I also believe in retests and second chances because my mother told me we learn more from mistakes than we do if everything is easy. If you’re an architect you render your first drawing and then discuss it and make improvements many times. If the student is willing to give me many drafts with improvements I know they’ll always strive to do good work in their life after HIgh School and they’ll be truly successful in their career and as a member of society.
