In my spare time, I enjoy spending time in any way I can with my family and friends. I also enjoy being creative and making things. I enjoy traveling when I get the chance.

Please tell us about yourself and your family:
I grew up in Norfolk with my mom, dad, sister and brother. I am the oldest of my siblings. I attended public K-3 and Lutheran schools 4-12. I graduated from Lutheran High Northeast in 2002. I continued my education at Northeast Community college, and then attended Wayne State College. During my time at Wayne State, I got the opportunity to teach at 5 different schools in Volos, Greece. I graduated with my teaching degree from Wayne in 2007. I then subbed in many different school districts for several years. After that I was hired for a paraprofessional position at Norfolk Middle School in the Life room, working with children that had disabilities. I then moved on from there getting the privilege to work as a para in Karol Stubbs’s classroom. It was then that Winside Elementary became my permanent home. I then took on the roll of the 4th grade teaching position.

After High School I met my husband and we married in July of 2010. He is from Texas, so we have family here and there. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 8 years. We have two beautiful boys, Grady 3 and Rhett 1. We live in Norfolk and enjoy every minute we get for family time.

What is your philosophy of education?
My philosophy of education is that the children are the future generations. I want my students to know that they are able to do great things in life and contribute great things to the world no matter what they become. I believe that it is my job as their teacher to prepare them for that by providing all of the tools, knowledge, and experiences that will allow them to reach their maximum potential and goals. I want to help them be successful in life. In order to do that I must continuously educate myself and use practices that best provide the students with what they need in order to succeed and be lifelong learners. I will challenge them by setting high standards, stretching their thinking, allowing them to think on their own, and be the very best they can be at whatever they choose to do in life.
